CV 4261

CV sand car, St. Albans, Vt. Gord Taylor photo
By Peter Mumby with Gord Taylor photo
The Gord Taylor Collection has yielded a number of interesting images, including this shot of CV 4261.  What was the origin of this car?  The small lettering at the bottom of one of the central panels reads "LANG 6 77," which probably refers to Lang yard in Ohio, a Detroit and Toledo Shore Line facility.  A quick online search led to a photo of DTS 2096, a similar (but not quite identical) car.  The date on this photo was 5/11/1980; other similar photos must be out there somewhere!  D&TS was folded into the Grand Trunk Western on June 26, 1981, so CV 4261 could well have previously been a part of the DTS roster.
